G-Free Journey: Quick Jude Update

Today Jude saw his pediatrician. Normally he has his annual check-up in April, but since we went gluten-free and dairy-free the first week of April I wanted to wait to take Jude in for his check-up, to see what the new diet did first. (Plus we were at the doctor A TON in '09 so I wasn't too worried about letting a few months go by.)

In 2009 Jude hardly grew and he completely fell off the growth chart, so I wanted to see if he would grow going off of gluten since his body would finally be able to absorb the nutrients that it wasn't getting. I've been really curious to see where he'd be on the growth chart after about 6 months being gluten-free and dairy free. It was good news today at his dr. appt! He jumped up on the growth chart instead of continuing to fall off of it! Wow! What wonderful news! Jude's dr. is wonderful, and though she said that the things we've been doing are not mainstream medical, she did mention it was hard to argue with the results. She still wants us to go visit the endocrinologist to look at growth hormone levels in Jude's body since that was an issue (last year) and we'll certainly go do that to see where they are and to talk to that doctor about all these things.

I was just so encouraged by today's appt. The main issues of Jude's multiple dr. appts. last year and multiple blood draws/labs were hypoglycemia and not growing, and today those two issues were not issues. :) Thank you Lord! What a great check-up.
